Our 2019 Highlights

 

It’s been an incredible year for us here at WHO ARE THEY Productions. We were lucky enough to work on a diverse range of projects, shoot in a variety of locations across London and work with fantastic clients.

But which moments were the real highlights of 2019, you ask? Well, if we really have to narrow it down, here’s a countdown of our top five:

5. Ellesse AW17 campaign

Everyone remembers longing for ellesse ‘get up’ back in their school days, are we right? So this project pulled on the nostalgic heartstrings and captured not only the latest in the ellesse AW17 collection, but teamed new season ‘Sport’ and ‘Italia’ lines with pieces from the ‘Heritage’ collection. Shooting campaign stills, plus abundance of moving and still images ready for an action-packed social media calendar, we produced a shoot our ’80s and ’90s selves fell in love with.

4. GQ & Burton with Jamie Redknapp

We always enjoy working with the team at Burton, but this project was even more of a thrill as the content produced was created for GQ Online. On a sunny day in August (remember those?), we headed to a slick South London pad to shoot the film. We don’t always get to shoot from storyboards, so working with a narrative crafted by Arcadia Creative Director, Anthony Cassidy, was a real treat. The video was supposed to end with Jamie Redknapp driving off in his car, however, we had a very narrow path to contend with. Jamie wasn’t keen to risk any scrapes to his ride, so our crew vehicle was rolled in to play the part. All well and good except someone couldn’t use the clutch… making for some great outtakes!

3. Halfords & Netmums

Being a bike fanatic from early days and also a long-time admirer of the Halfords brand made working on this project that much better. The two-day shoot took place in North London and involved filming members of the Netmums community talking about the great service Halfords provide. Trying to direct four children riding bikes was particularly funny – what do they say about not working with children and animals?!

2. Raconteur Publishing

We had high hopes when pitching for monthly content production with Raconteur Publishing and were delighted when we were awarded the contract. From shooting at the top of The Shard to capturing a debate with Investec and having our content featured on The Times, we’ve enjoyed every minute of this partnership so far and are looking forward to it continuing in 2018.

1. Dorothy Perkins & Burton Black Friday TV Commercial

Now that Black Friday has morphed in to the biggest moment on the retail calendar, with a whirlwind of discounts and deals coming at us in all directions, it was great to be part of the buzz. Teaming up with Burton and Dorothy Perkins in a London studio, we filmed a 20 sec tv spot to promote their 50% off sale. The advert aired during ‘I’m A Celebrity’ and ‘Coronation Street’, a real top moment for WHO ARE THEY Productions!

We can’t wait to see what 2020 has in store!
